CITY REPLACES CHLORINE FEED SYSTEM UV FOR A SAFER, MORE EFFICIENT PROCESS
Project: Scottsburg, Indiana, Wastewater
Challenge: The Scottsburg, Indiana WWTP had been using a chlorine feed system. The common trend for an upgrade to UV disinfection is to retrofit chlorine contact basins with open channel disinfection. These open flow channels suffer from many disadvantages; poor hydraulic mixing, very large footprint, expensive to build, difficult to maintain and are vulnerable to fluctuation in flow rate.

Electrolytic Technologies

Electrolytic Technologies has extensive experience installing and implementing On-site Sodium Hypochlorite Generation Plants globally. Utilizing brine-to-bleach technology and commissioned under the trade name KlorigenTM, Electrolytic Technologies has supplied fully engineered, factory-tested, and ready-for-installation plants since 2001. KlorigenTM is an advanced electrochemical technology that uses salt and water to produce two chemicals: chlorine gas and caustic soda. These chemicals can be used independently or converted to high-purity sodium hypochlorite at various concentrations up to 15%.
